9 GOOD Reasons You Need to Support The Cats This Week!
It’s difficult to imagine that UK could be sitting at 7-3 going into Senior Day, and the football fan base has its head hung low. After an incredible start to the season, the Cats are looking like a lost team, and it feels like opportunities for excellence are being squandered. The failures of the past two weeks could be blamed on any number of things. Playcalling on offense has been pitiful. Guys who never seem to miss a tackle are either in the wrong spot on defense or just completely whiff when they’re in the right spot. Fans are frustrated, and that’s okay. We should be. We’ve got Benny Snell, C.J. Conrad, Lynn Bowden, and a solid o-line, but we somehow look completely flat game after game. There’s no way our offense is anywhere close to full potential, but instead of focusing on who we need to blame the next few days, I think we should get behind some very special men who are putting on a Wildcat uniform at Kroger Field for the final time on Saturday. This will be the last time we’ll see Mike Edwards blow up a screen in the backfield. This is the last time we will see Josh Allen explode around the edge and terrorize the opposing QB. Lexington will never see C.J. Conrad make a huge catch, Dorian Baker spring a big run with a block on the outside, or David Bouvier make a clutch grab on 3rd down again. It’s our last time we will have a chance to see Darius West come out of nowhere and pick off a pass just before the ball reaches an opposing receiver. We’ll never have another opportunity to watch Derrick Baity shut someone down, or Bunchy Stallings pull and destroy a CB charging at our ball carrier. With a tear in my eye (Ric Flair reference intended), we will probably never see Benny Snell wear a UK uniform on our home field again. There are other guys finishing up their careers in LEX on Saturday too, but if for nothing else, get yourself to Kroger Field and scream your lungs out for these nine guys who played their hearts out for you. Go Cats!
